Comfort System Installation
Starting at $25,000.00, a Comfort System Installation always includes Testing - Prime for Comfort and starts with a Home Comfort Coaching Session.
HVAC is an attempt to aggregate enough letters into an acronym that, when people see it, they get the picture. However, as discussed here and elsewhere, a system is more than the sum of it's parts.
If that were not true, we would be missing a few letters. "D" for dehumidification, "H" for humidification, "F" for filtration, etc. The best of each of these. Obviously.
We don't optimize any one particular letter. We optimize for you. You are the most important part of the system. Then there is your house. We look at your house system in a different way than most experts. Then the subsystems within it. HVAC is one of this subsystems.
This is the option to choose if you don’t have an HVAC contractor.
We hire and pay the contractors. So, in addition to advocating for you, by choosing this option, you grant us a measure of control.
As with the other services we provide, we begin a Comfort System Installation by sitting down with you for a Home Comfort Coaching Session. We want your expertise. Really! We'll ask questions and listen and take notes and record what you allow us to. Then we will follow along as you give us a tour of your home. You know where you feel comfortable and where you don't. Show us the comfortable parts and uncomfortable parts. We'll add a few sensors, take a few measurements and schedule testing for drafts so we know .
We will look at the rest of the appliances while we are there to make sure they are functioning as you expect them to and are safe now and will be safe for whatever improvements we are about to make together; since, as you know by now, changing out one system is going to affect the other systems.
Sometimes, there is already a comfort delivery system (ductwork) in place; we may be able to make use of this system with some alterations. We will test for airflow and monitor static pressure
inside the ductwork to help determine that.
We will also address with you how to determine if the current systems are sufficient to dehumidify, humidify and filter the fresh air coming in to the house. :
Regarding the other subsystems in your house, these also need to be optimized for your comfort equipment. For example, we will always run a new electrical circuit from your electrical panel if one is not already deployed and ensure that electricity is filtered and protected. Power factor is way more important a metric than it is given credit for, and modern comfort equipment is not designed in the robust manner that older equipment was. Further, it is full of computer boards, so we will ensure it is protected in the same was as other sensitive equipment.
Pollutant source control
We measure these other systems (Bath fans, kitchen exhaust hoods, dryer vents, etc), because, as you are probably aware, these are affected by your other subsystems and very much affect your comfort.
Many bath fans go unused, simply because
they are so loud. That doesn't necessarily mean they are good at removing odors and moisture after a shower, the opposite is often true. Additionally, the pollutants are often deposited into or in spaces connected to the building enclosure. So, the most basic reason for their existence is negated because they are installed by a tradesperson, or combination of tradespeople, who are not necessarily working together, who are being asking to install a system they are not completely familiar with, and do not have the full scope of work, tools or equipment available to them. And there you have it, an entire subsystem condensed into a shirt narrative of why we exist.
Not to be forgotten, we will design your System
to handle the loads that exist in your home, and then
Verify when these subsystems are installed that they function properly with your comfort as the goal, house safety, healthy durability and efficient as possible.
You are going to love it.
